Design Engineers designing products for OEM customer engineers face many challenges. Product design challenges involve fit, complexity: product cost, product design function performance, variability, risk levels, and related issues. Tim Matuseski demonstrates a mature use of A3 visuals and process that engages engineers and their OEM customers. Tim describes the essentials and visuals of an A3 Design Problem Solving initiative used in engineering customer interface. Describing an actual customer problems solving event, Tim demonstrates interaction via A3 thinking that lead to common understanding and collaboration to solve design performance problems, cost issues, solution alternatives, risk options, scope and economics goals. The process resulted in gaining agreement to design changes and future initiatives.
